Organising Community and the alternative side of Utrecht
WIJK UIT is an alternative introduction week to Utrecht, giving young people, students and residents a chance to get acquainted with the underexposed alternative, underground, activist, artistic side of our city. WIJK UIT works as a platform through self-organisation: By building an active community that values social responsibility we connect, inspire, and grow resilience against ‘normalised’ oppressive cultures, such as individualism, peer pressure and exclusion.
We’ll be diving into how we organized the WIJK UIT week last year in August, how this idea started and who we collaborated with to make it happen as an Utrecht based community, and how as a collective we actively work on ‘UITWIJKEN’ as our method.
